Intensive Outpatient Treatment (IOP) in Bridgeport CT
It’s not easy to admit when you, or a loved one, need help when it comes to mental health problems, substance abuse issues, or the troubles that often come with either one that requires intensive outpatient treatment and counseling. If you, or someone you care about, is suffering from both mental health problems and substance abuse issues in Bridgeport CT, you need supportive and attentive care in addition to any help others can provide.
The reason for the additional attention and care is because if you’re suffering from mental health and substance misuse struggles, it may take a lot of time, medical care, and intensive therapy to get to the bottom of what’s causing the problems and why substances may have been turned to as an alternative to appropriate help.
Such care may take longer to affect an overall improvement in health and overcome the clutches of addiction. But longer, attentive care can also lead to a long-lasting recovery.
The licensed mental health and substance abuse specialists at New Era Rehabilitation in Bridgeport, CT, have the knowledge, experience, and understanding to provide you with the care you need to ensure you successfully regain control over all aspects of your life.

Recovery Options and Tailored Intensive Outpatient Treatment
If you’ve decided you’re ready for help and have done a cursory search for treatment options on the internet, you’ve probably discovered that different places offer different forms of treatment. This can lead to confusion over what may be best for you.
The good news is you don’t need to worry about what’s best for you in terms of the kind of treatment you receive. If you’re ready for help, we’ll help you get the treatment you need, so you don’t have to worry about it.
This process starts with a free consultation with one of our intensive outpatient treatment specialists. They’ll do an intake assessment that takes into account your history with mental health and substance abuse, how long you’ve been struggling, whether you’ve been diagnosed with any disorders in the past, and what you’re current situation looks like.
With your input, we’ll put together an initial recommendation for treatment that takes into account everything you share and what your ultimate goals are.
So, again, you don’t need to worry about intensive outpatient treatment options or let confusion scare you away. With New Era Rehabilitation in Bridgeport, CT, our goal is to see you succeed and reach your goals. We do this by tailoring your intensive outpatient treatment plan specifically for you.
Intensive Outpatient Program as an Option
Telling you not to worry about the treatment options doesn’t mean we won’t provide you with some information on what may be recommended. In a case where you do suffer from a history of mental health issues and substance abuse, you’ll more than likely be recommended for outpatient therapy and counseling in some form.
What is outpatient counseling?
Outpatient counseling is a type of counseling that is for clients that aren’t completely dependent on a substance to fully function or don’t suffer from a mental health disorder that can lead to harm to others or themselves. For those clients, inpatient care is almost always the course of treatment to help them transition to a point where they are fully functioning again with proper care.
If you’re not a candidate for inpatient care but have a long history of mental health or substance abuse issues, the next course of treatment is outpatient counseling, which involves more frequent treatment out our facility but still allows you to live a normal life outside of treatment and stay home at night.
The highest level of our outpatient services is our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). This program is a rigorous, structured program that involves multiple weeks of therapy that has a contained set of benchmarks for your recovery process while also providing a wide range of development tools.
Put another way, it’s a program that requires a lot of self-reflection and hard work but still provides you with attentive guidance and care from our staff to ensure your recovery is a long-lasting and rewarding one.
What to Expect from Our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Again, our IOP is structured and rigorous, but it doesn’t last forever. It’s often said an individual is always in some form of “recovery.” However, no one is always in an intensive outpatient program.
That being said, the things you learn and the progress you make in our IOP will be part of your recovery toolbox that can always be turned to when you need help to stay on the path of long-term sobriety.
Below is a brief example of what you can expect from our IOP.
- Our IOP doesn’t require you to stay at our facilities overnight during its duration.
- You will be part of a small group of adults for the entire length of the IOP.
- Each group consists of 10 – 12 participants.
- Our IOP lasts 8 – 12 weeks.
- The group is required to meet 3 times a week.
- Each session is 3 hours in length.
- The program and all meetings are led by our professionals, who are outpatient counseling specialists.
In addition to IOP as part of your treatment plan, you may have other therapies that are also part of it, including group therapy, family counseling, and individual sessions with a mental health professional, to name a few.
Our Intensive Outpatient Recovery Program Includes
- Intensive outpatient alcohol treatment
- Intensive outpatient treatment for substance abuse
- Intensive outpatient drug and alcohol treatment
- Mental health IOP programs
- Intensive anxiety treatment program and more..
